at christmastime

If Erzgebirge should choose a favorite season, the Christmas season should be very far ahead, if not at the top of the seasons. What's not going on, what can't you do there? Our Erzgebirge is known as the Christmas country - lights in the windows everywhere and pyramids as tall as a man in the marketplaces. A wonderful scent pours out of the windows when cookies are baked. You won't want to leave at this time. Celebrate with us!

Smoking man festival in the smoking man museum late November / early December

Cleat cut and pushing pyramids with trombone choir - it will be really Christmas. If you still have an old journeyman at home who would do well in the museum, bring it with you to the Raachermannl exchange. The old one is honored in the exhibition and the donors receive a new smoker. All real Erzgebirge.

Mountain parades in the Christmas season

There are no mountain parades in our place, these take place in the big mountain towns. The Erzgebirge Tourism Association knows exactly when which parade is going where. It is best to get an overview there.

Santa Claus trip on the steam train

It is warm inside, outside it is icy. Expectant children's eyes look a little scared when Santa Claus enters the car of the old tourist train. She sniffs, sometimes with two locomotives, through the winter forest. Every year Nikolaus gives the Fichtelbergbahn the pleasure to ride. If you want to ride yourself, you should register, because space is limited.

Traditional Christmas event "Lichtlohmd" in the district of Neudorf in December

People sing, dance and play music. The highlight is the performance of a play in dialect. After that, the laugh muscles urgently need a break and the belly needs strengthening. Such an evening is an integral part of the tradition of the Ore Mountains. Because these performances are so popular and not all those who want to party together can fit into the large hall of the Kaiserhof, they are even available four times!
